Peach fuzz was declared as the colour of the year by Pantone. Laurie Pressman, the Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute explained it was chosen because of the need to remind ourselves that “A vital part of living a full life is having the good health, stamina, and strength to enjoy it. That in a world which often emphasises productivity and external achievements, it’s critical that we also recognise the importance of fostering our inner cells and find moments of respite, creativity, and human connection. As a business owner and mother of a toddler, a life that requires serious balance and I am often reminding myself to live in the moment, that work can wait until the morning.
Get close to the ones you love
Furthermore, Laurie stated “The colour needed to express our desire, to want to be close to those we love, and the joy we get when allowing ourselves to tune into who we are and just savour that moment of quiet time. [It also] needed to be a colour that’s warm and welcoming… [and] conveyed a message of compassion and empathy, one that was nurturing, whose cosy sensibility brought people together and elicited a feeling of tactility.”
The perfect wedding colour palette
Some of the colours previously chosen as colour of the year, I have been less enthused about. Hello Very Peri, not really my cup of tea. But I can see how the colour Peach will be a strong contender in couples choice when thinking of their wedding palette. Pretty, delicate, romantic and a change from blush pink which has dominated weddings for years (not that there is anything wrong with that, it is one of my favourite colours to design with!) But I also really like the thought process behind the colour, the last few years have been pretty rough worldwide so taking time to really get creative, connect with loved ones and nurture yourself and those around you, to me, really suits the sentiment of a wedding, which is all about love, happiness and taking time to really celebrate life and the future with family and friends.
Pretty Peach Bouquets
A&J chose peach for their colour scheme back in late May 2023, these bouquets were absolutely beautiful and look stunning in the professional photographs. They also smelt incredible with Stocks and Garden Roses. The essential part of creating a beautiful bouquet is the whimsical element, which for these bouquets were foraged Cow Parsley, Grasses and Blonde Lavender from my own cutting garden.
I have already had a few requests for Peach for 2024 and 2025.. each wedding is different and each and every bouquet is different, I wonder what I will be adding to yours?
